“I’m New TO Off-Roading, Do I need Prior Experience for a guided 4×4 adventure?”
The short answer is “No”, but is it the right answer? You don’t NEED experience, but learning about your vehicle, driving techniques and recovery skills can make the experience so much more enjoyable.
Off-road driving is very different from driving on paved roads. Learning how to approach obstacles, navigate uneven terrain, manage steep inclines, and understand your vehicle’s capabilities takes practice.
That’s why Discover 4×4 Adventures offers dedicated 101 classes for absolute beginners. These hands-on off-road driving training classes introduce you to the fundamentals in a supportive environment, giving you the knowledge and confidence to start exploring the trail.
Our 2026 class schedule has concluded, but the adventure continues in 2027. Our 2027 training schedule will launch in December, including opportunities to participate in both 101 and Advanced Offroad Training Classes. After building a solid foundation in our 101 class, drivers can continue developing their skills through our advanced training.
Take Your Skills on the Trail
For those that are new to off-roading, training is only part of the experience. Our 4×4 adventure trips, guided overlanding tours, and off-road excursions give you the chance to put your skills into practice while exploring incredible terrain.
Our Shore to Shore events are particularly well suited to newer drivers. Both Comfort Shore to Shore and Rustic Shore to Shore offer fantastic opportunities to spend more time on the trail, experience a multi-day adventure, and gain valuable real-world driving experience.
Whether you prefer the additional luxury of the comforts Shore to Shore or the more traditional experience of Rustic Shore to Shore, both are excellent choices for drivers looking to get a little seat time with minimal risk.

Women’s Wheeling Weekend
Looking for an off-road adventure designed specifically for women? Women’s Wheeling Weekend provides a welcoming environment to learn, drive, and connect with other women who share a passion for off-roading.
Whether you’re a beginner or simply looking to gain more experience, this event offers a supportive way to get behind the wheel, develop your skills, and enjoy a weekend of adventure. Wome’s Wheeling Weekend is hosted at Windrock Park and Southern Missouri Offroad Ranch. We may be looking to host a few others in 2027.
