About Us
The idea for Discover 4×4 Adventures came about 5 years ago as Keri and I drove home from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula one winter day
We had just spent the weekend out exploring an ice cave, iced over waterfalls, snowshoeing, and visiting some of the great restaurants the “UP” has to offer. The conversation brought about a discussion of the fact we’ve met so many people that have no idea what joy this nature has to offer. We then decided to search for any Michigan based companies that offer outdoor or off-road adventure trips and could not find any. Over the last three years and many long talks later we decided to harness our love for off-road vehicles and Michigan’s outdoor life and make our dream a reality.
Over the years we’ve come across many people that have offroad vehicles and don’t know the first thing about offroading. It seemed only natural that our first step as a business was to offer education, teaching others to get out and explore with added confidence.
The next most common phrase from people is, “I would love to go offroad, I just don’t know where to go.”
While leading trail rides and adventure trips we take any effort or confusion out of navigating trail systems, planning excursions, food stops, and sleeping accommodations along the way.
Currently, our home base is located in southern Michigan where we were born and raised. Both owners (Paul and Keri) grew up in this area and have spent our lives exploring and vacationing throughout both the lower and upper peninsulas. Realizing that much of what Michigan has to offer remains unknown to so many we wanted to find a way to share this with fellow adventures.

Paul Porter
Co-Owner
Paul has been leading trail rides and off-road 101 classes with off-road clubs he has run for over 10 years. You can say he knows his way around a vehicle, Paul has owned over 100 off-road vehicles that he has fixed up, parted out, or had for play. You can be confident that he will be able to keep you safe on the trails and pass along his 15 years of off-road experience.
Keri Porter
Owner
Keri has also been around the off-road world for 15 years. She has taken her trail skills to higher levels by competing in the 2018, 2019, and 2020 Rebelle Rally, an all-female 8-day compass and map navigational rally through the California and Nevada deserts. You can find Keri leading other women to paths of confidence on any trail she’s on. Always willing to pass along her many years of experience and skills in wrenching, navigation, survival, and trail skills.
